It’s designed to meet kids where they are and help them keep growing without the pressure or burnout. They’ll learn life lessons and be able to stay in the game without all the stress. It’s a quality soccer environment with professional coaching, giving your player the skills and confidence to succeed on their terms.

Program Vision

At TruePlay by Finesse, we believe every player deserves to experience the love of the game—without the stress, the pressure, or the burnout. Soccer should be fun, inclusive, and empowering. And you shouldn’t have to move to club soccer before you’re ready. That’s why we offer a different approach to soccer—one that prioritizes joy, balance, and community, supported by technical development, tactical understanding, decision making and soccer IQ.

TruePlay by Finesse Soccer offers professional coaching for 10 weeks with a dedicated coach assigned to your team for practices and games. Our head coaches have over 65 years combined experience from coaching at the youth through collegiate levels, and we are all hold various coaching licenses: Carrie Fry Robinson, Bridget Baker and Katie LaForge.

Frequently Asked Questions

TruePlay is designed for all kids from 2nd to 8th grade! They will have access to professional coaching, quality fields and a positive mental health atmosphere. If your kiddo wants to develop a solid technical base, improve their soccer IQ and develop the skills and confidence to stay in the game all while having fun in a low time/cost program, then this is for you!

With TruePlay, your player/team will be assigned a professional coach who will run all their practices and coach in games.

You can rest assured knowing that your player will be getting coached in a positive environment with a coach who knows her stuff and truly cares.

TruePlay is focused on developing the whole person, for the benefit of the player, not the club. We will challenge your athlete to be successful on and off the field, and place them according to what is in their best interest.

Teams will be coached by a Finesse Soccer head coach who will be supported by a coach in our G-CAP program (mentorship program for high school female soccer players). Our head coaches will be at every practice and game. Our coaching staff are all former collegiate players who have turned their love for the game into coaching, with over 40 years combined coaching experience. All of our head coaches are licensed, certified coaches with an emphasis on youth development. Coach Carrie Fry Robinson, Coach Bridget Baker and Coach Melissa Stuewe share a love of the game and desire to keep girls in the game.

Awesome! Soccer is all about the friendships you form and connections you make along the way. If you have a team that needs a coach, one of our TruePlay coaches will step into that role and lead you through the season. If you are signing up as an entire team, we will not fill additional roster spots with individual players without your permission.

Currently, we are taking team signups. If you are an individual player, please complete our interest form and if a team needs additional players, you’re in! We are also working on setting up training sessions individual players can attend.

If your team wants to stay together with your current parent coach, we can develop a customized curriculum for your coach to have access to an age specific, developmentally appropriate curriculum that will level out the player experience and balance out everyone’s access to a pro-style session.

That’s actually one of the reasons we’re here! Research shows that multi-sport athletes are stronger, more resilient, and less prone to injury than kids who specialize too early. We also believe that a well-rounded child—one who explores different interests and talents—is a happier, more confident child. Our program is designed to support that balance, not compete with it.

TruePlay is designed to fit into your current life, not take it over! We keep costs as low as possible in order to take the high pressure off. In addition, our commitment to whole child development means there is no shame in having a life outside soccer 😉

TruePlay hires professional coaches who have decades of combined experience working with athletes from pre-K to pro. We will train your athlete not only to be skillful enough to meet their goals, but to teach them the proper way to play thus reducing injury and burnout. Bonus, by playing in TruePlay, they’ll still love the game enough to want to play in High School.

Ignite is our entry-level developmental soccer program where players are introduced to the fundamentals of the game in a supportive, uplifting environment. Ideal for rec teams and rec players.

Elevate offers higher intensity trainings and play without the pressure of year-round demands. Ideal for IP players and players taking a step back from club.

Our extensive knowledge of child development tells us that every child develops at their own pace. In addition, some kids are naturally more aggressive than others. For this reason, we have a two tiered system: Ignite and Elevate, you can explore further in our menu.

We believe being competitive is a mindset and it means trying your best, not paying big fees or joining a certain kind of team. Some girls come to get better and challenge themselves. Others come to have fun, make friends, and build confidence. We meet each player where they’re at and help them grow and reach the goals they sets for themselves.

Sign up for the season, no long term commitments, no contract, no signing periods. This is youth sports, let’s keep it light and real.

For one low cost, we provide one training session and game per week with professional coaches who focus on technical and tactical soccer skills, soccer IQ and empowerment in a healthy, positive atmosphere.

We want to create a community of soccer families, not a business structure that shuffles players around (or out) every year. As long as you want to, you’ll stay with your current team and grow with those teammates and coach, just like it should be.

No tryouts. No threat of “losing” your spot with your teammates. The TruePlay experience is what our community really needs – healthy, fun, and quality soccer environment.

For ignite players, your TruePlay team will register in a local rec league and play against other rec teams their age.

For elevate players, your TruePlay team will register in a local rec league and play up in age. Your games will be supplemented with higher intensity 3v3 and 4v4 games during practice sessions, along with the daily practice curriculum.

Our professional coaching with a focus on whole player development builds:

  • growth mindset
  • confidence
  • competitive advantage
  • ability to handle pressure
  • accept failure as part of success
  • strengthen mental game as well as physical game
  • happy kids and better humans!

Youth soccer has changed so much in the last decade, it’s become more “professionalized”, and monetized. We’ve seen it ourselves as former club coaches, as parents whose kids have played in the system, as former players who yearn for a soccer environment like it was “in the good old days” – how it used to, and should, be. We couldn’t find a solution for parents and players wanting an elevated experience, with quality coaching but without the pressure of premier. So, we created it.

Coach Carrie has been hearing from parents for years, questions like “My kid has grown out of her rec team but we aren’t wanting club, we don’t know what to do… “ “My rec team coach said they can’t take the team any further so we have to go club, but we aren’t ready for that yet…” “My daughter was loving soccer but her rec team just imploded because a few girls went to club, but it’s not for us, what do we do?” “We went to club too soon and now my kid wants to quit soccer altogether..”

Carrie heard these concerns over and over, with no option for players like these. Her own kids have benefited tremendously from playing rec, with her current 6th grade daughter experiencing what some of the players mentioned above shared. Her daughter’s team in 2nd grade had “outgrown” rec and decided to go IP. All the players were ready for it, and with Carrie as the coach, she knew they were ready with a solid skill base. However, she didn’t ask her own daughter (lesson learned) and at the end of the 3rd grade fall season in premier, her daughter was ready to quit because it was “too much” – too many practices (2 per week) and too much pressure. She finished out the year, and as a family, they discussed what her daughter wanted to do. Her daughter said she loved soccer, just didn’t love playing at that next level.  So they took a step back and formed a rec team, comprised of girls in a similar situation from other schools – girls who enjoy soccer and also want time for other sports. That team today is still together, playing rec soccer and loving it. These girls are on track to playing for their high school teams.

Our focus is FUN! Too many kids are experiencing burnout and unnecessary anxiety due to the pressure to WIN. They take the JOY and turn it into a JOB.

With our low pressure approach and healthy environment, we keep kids loving learning and wanting to come back to have fun with friends while learning awesome life lessons sports can teach.

The WIN for us is the kids love soccer and keep playing. We don’t care about the score, as we know the true winner is your kid’s current and future self.

No—players will still grow and thrive without going club. Not only is it possible, it can be better in many cases. With the right coaching and support, players build strong skills, confidence, and a love for the game—without the pressure, high cost, or early burnout that sometimes comes with club. We focus on individual growth and meeting each player where she’s at, so she keeps improving and stays excited to play, year after year.

Absolutely. Rec soccer has gotten a bad rap over the years, but it plays a crucial role in youth sports. “Rec” doesn’t mean “worse”—it just means more balanced. When done well, it can be a powerful space for learning, growth, and love of the game.

What’s often missing in rec youth soccer is consistent, high-quality coaching. That gap forces many families into a tough spot: their child wants to keep playing, but the coach or team disbands… and suddenly it’s club or quit. We hear far too often from parents whose kids burned out or quit in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade because they were pushed into premier too early.

The truth is, many players who grow up in a supportive, lower-pressure environment stay in the game longer—because it stays fun.

So what if we could have the best of both worlds? Club-level coaching, rec-level vibe. That’s exactly what we’re building with TruePlay by Finesse Soccer—a place where kids can grow, stay in love with the game, and play for all the right reasons.

Tired of your team identity being decided by a stranger in an office far away, or more bland than unseasoned chicken? Bring on the Golden Coins, the Ball Strikers and the Crazy Cheetahs! Bring back the Fun! This game belongs to the Kids!

They can! We fully support players who decide to take that step. In fact, the skills, confidence, and game understanding she builds here will set her up for success if she chooses to join a club later on. We’re not here to keep kids from club—we’re here to prepare them well, so if and when they go, they’re ready for it and still love the game.

G-CAP is a program developed by Coach Bridget to help encourage more girls to get involved in coaching with a structured mentorship program. Each of our head coaches will be assisted by a local high school player in our G-CAP program.

High School soccer players can apply for this apprenticeship program and learn from the Finesse Soccer coaching team.
